Ms. Chris Her-Xiong, Executive Director/Principal
Chris Her-Xiong came to the United States as a refugee child in 1976. She attended Central University of Iowa where she completed her first Bachelors degree in Art. She then went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Education as well as two Masters degrees in Administrative Leadership and Director of Curriculum from Alverno College. In 1995 she published “The Hmong: The People and Their History”, which contributed to her most recent achievement as the 2009 Hmong Woman of the Year.
Chris Her-Xiong was the first Hmong bilingual teacher employed by the Milwaukee Public Schools. She is Founder, Executive Director and Principal of Hmong American Peace Academy, Ltd., with more than 20 years of experience in the educational and business fields. Her-Xiong maintains licenses in Art, Instruction, and Administration for grades K-12, as well as a Director of Curriculum. She also attained teaching certificates for both regular and bilingual schools for grades K-8.
Outside of her skills in the field of teaching, she has extensive experience with writing business plans, grants, and educational plans.
